Heather Dueck, B.Sc., RD
Heather grew up in Victoria, British Columbia where she attended Mount Douglas Secondary. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science at the University of Alberta. She stayed in Edmonton to complete her Dietetic Internship with Capital Health and a student work program with Alberta Milk. Heather enjoyed her experience in Edmonton so much that she decided to stay at Capital Health and work in such areas as Intensive Care Unit, Surgery, Gastroenterology and Medicine. She couldn’t stay away from home too long, so she decided to move back to Victoria where she was hired by the local health authority. Her main areas of nutrition interests are critical care, sports nutrition and general healthy eating.
Heather has always been very active and played numerous competitive sports including basketball, baseball and soccer. Recently, she has completed two half marathons and loves taking her two adorable puppies Silvio and Charlie for runs around Mt. Doug. In the winter she enjoys skate-skiing and snow-shoeing with her husband in Whistler.
What inspired Heather to complete her Nutrition degree was her love of food and an active lifestyle. Heather will eat just about anything, especially Mexican, Thai and East Indian Cuisine. Heather’s guilty pleasures are chocolate, red wine and the bread at Pagliacci’s. Heather lives by “everything in moderation!”
